It’s easy to get swept away in other peoples’ expectations of what your life “should” look like. Over time, you may not be able to distinguish the difference between other peoples’ expectations and what you truly desire for yourself. Lacking a strong, internal voice can lead to self-doubt and endless worry that you don’t know yourself as well as you thought you did.

It’s hard to stick up for yourself and your values, whether this be with family, friends, co-workers, etc. It’s common to replay these self-betrayals over and over in your head wishing you would have said or done something differently. You wait for the right moment to re-address the issue but it never seems to be the right time or you tell yourself, “It wasn’t that bad, or they didn’t mean it that way.”
